Panoramic snowshoe hike
The Monte Rapina hike always gives us amazing sensations thanks to its views and its colours. The ascent towards the Monte Rapina will follow the B3 path, which runs along the southern edge of the spectacular Orfento Valley until reaching the Monte Rapina upland located at 1900+ metres above sea level. From this point we will head back down, stopping for lunch at the Barrasso mountain refuge (1542 m asl).
Why not to miss it
Maiella during wintertime is so fascinating! The summits crowning the Orfento Valley covered in snow, the nature slowing down and making everything softer and quieter…there is just the wind marking time, accompanied by the sound of the snowshoes breaking the surface of the snow. On the Monte Rapina upland, around 2000 metres above sea level, the sight is caught by the white and thin ridge of the Monte Pescofalcone and by the majestic Morrone massif. Along the descent we will stop for a brief lunch break at the Barrasso refuge, looking at the Gran Sasso and the Adriatic Sea.
